Palace
of
Peace
and
Reconciliation
Palace of Peace and Reconciliation is a concept album pressed on vinyl (lobitlandscapes) and finished in 2016. For four years after its completion, five hundred copies of it were locked up in a loft in Brooklyn due to legal battle with the landlord, where it was lived with and shit on by a group of pigeons (see below). This prevented me and the label from distributing it to any record shops. After finally getting access to the records when the tenants won the case in late 2019, I am now able to properly re-release the album together with some visual material that was part of its "world". I also asked my friend Simon Kounovksy to make a video for one of the tracks, Portal of Zin 1 which can be seen below.
The album was originally part of a series of pop-up events, dinners and exhibitions that were hosted at Arcadia Misssa in London, Kaņepes Kultūras Centrs in Riga, L.E.A.P. in Berlin and Fitness in Brooklyn, select documentation of which is also included below. The original record also included a limited edition zine with contributions by Stephan Backes, Cindie Cheung, Maria Gorodeckaya, Kaspars Groševs, Bryce Hackford, Emily Jones, Chris King, Paul Timofeev, Simon Werner, Lawrence Lek, Dasha Melnikova, Alex Rathbone, Clifford Sage, Camila Sotomayor and Takeshi Shiomitsu, all of whom responded to the title of the album and early versions of the recordings. Below you can listen to five tracks from the album, more info on my site.
